Replacement part was $40 and i had the boards working again in 30 mins. Without the boards dropping down, i missed them everytime i had to enter/exit my truck. I have had a part fail (long pinion gear looking thing) that rendered the steps useless. I've had the kit installed for about 4 years now and live in a moderate climate with no winter salt/etc.
